Short description
Gangster Squad is a 2013 crime drama film directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring an all-star cast of Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte, Sean Penn and Anthony Mackie. The movie follows the story of a secret police force in Los Angeles during the 1940s and 1950s as they attempt to take down notorious mob boss Mickey Cohen.

John O'Mara (Brolin), a no-nonsense cop who is tasked with forming the Gangster Squad to take down Cohen. He is joined by Sgt. Jerry Wooters (Gosling), an ex-soldier who has a knack for getting into trouble; Sgt. Conway Keeler (Mackie), an African American cop who is determined to prove himself; Sgt. Max Kennard (Nolte), an old-school cop who has seen it all; and Sgt. Jack Whalen (Penn), a former boxer who is looking for redemption after his past mistakes. Together, they form an unlikely team that must work together to bring down Cohen's criminal empire.
The movie does a great job of showing the struggles that each character faces as they try to take down Cohen and his gangsters. We see how each character deals with their own personal demons while also trying to stay focused on their mission at hand. The action sequences are intense and thrilling, with plenty of shootouts and car chases that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie. The performances from all of the actors are top notch, especially from Brolin and Gosling who both deliver powerful performances as O'Mara and Wooters respectively.
Overall, Gangster Squad is an entertaining crime drama that will keep you hooked until the very end. It's filled with great action sequences, strong performances from its cast, and plenty of suspenseful moments that will keep you guessing until the very end.
