The performances by both Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali are absolutely outstanding. Mortensen perfectly captures Tony’s brashness and bravado while also conveying his underlying vulnerability and humanity. Ali is equally impressive as Don Shirley, portraying him with dignity and grace despite the racism he faces throughout his journey. The chemistry between these two actors is palpable, making their friendship feel genuine and believable.
The script for Green Book is also excellent, with plenty of witty dialogue that keeps the movie lighthearted even when tackling serious issues such as racism and prejudice. The movie also features some great music from Dr. Don Shirley’s concerts, which adds to its overall charm.
Overall, Green Book is an excellent film that tells an important story about race relations in America during the 1960s with humor, heart, and humanity.
