Mr. Nobody (2009)
Short description
Mr. Nobody is a science fiction drama film directed by Jaco Van Dormael.
Plot
In 2092, humanity has conquered mortality through the endless renewal of cells. The world watches in fascination as the 118-year-old Nemo Nobody, the last mortal on Earth, edges towards death. Nemo makes contradictory statements, describing events from his past as having unfolded in multiple different ways, and explains that, before birth, children remember everything that will happen in their lives. At the moment of conception, the Angels of Oblivion erase the children's memories, but he says the Angels forgot about him, allowing him to "remember" different possible futures for himself.
One of the things that Nemo remembers is the run at the railway station, after his parents' divorce when he is a kid. Nemo describes what would have happend if he did not catch or he catch the train.

Some memorable lines
9yo Nemo | If you mix the mashed potatoes and sauce you can't separate them later. It's forever. The smoke comes out of Daddy's ciggarette, but it never goes back in. We cannot go back. That's why it's hard to choose. You have to make the right choice. As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible. |
9yo Nemo | Daddy says you can predict exactly when Mars will be in the sky, even in 100 years. But the funny thing is Daddy doesn't know what will happen to him 2 minutes from now. |
kid Nemo | Why do we remember the past, but not the future? |
old Nemo about 9yo Nemo | Before, he was unable to make a choice 'cause he didn't know what would happen. Now, that he knows what will happen, he is unable to make a choice. |
Movie ending
Overall, the movie is very interesting and memorable. The end has a lot of suspense and shows how difficult it can be to make an important decision.
In the end of the movie, we see the young Nemo that could not make a choice even if he knew what are the results of his actions. He goes on a side way. In the last moment Nemo chooses a life of love with Anna.
Nemo, a nobody, is everyone trying to see his future as Nemo pretended to know in his youth, visiting the myriad of scenarios that can happen even if just one can happen in the very best case.
In real life "As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible" is not true because most of the choices don't wait for us and we have to decide or we'll lose the chance.
