Chance is the buffalo

Chance, the sheriff of the town, is respected and feared by his enemies. On a patrol one evening, he greets one of Burdette's men: "Good evening!", to which he is answered with "Yes, sir!". Burdette's man leaves then scared.

Chance manages all situations with calm and authority. He is a person who hides his emotions well, unlike other characters like Pedro or Stumpy, characters who also bring fun to the film.

Dude: "We're looking for a man who ran in here." Burdette's man, without being asked: "Nobody's ran in here." Chance: "We'll remember you said that!"

Dude brings the troubles

It is Dude who causes most of the problems because of alcohol addiction. He's the one who pulls out the vagrancy of Joe Burdette, in the scene where Joe commits the crime for which he is arrested. Dude is the one who does not fulfill his duty well, although he had no way, not being able to check by himself properly those who entered the town.

Dude is captured twice, the first time because of alcoholism. It is overworked. He appears in a scene that describes him as having skills extraordinary when he is not drunk, being able to make sure that no one enter the town armed. It is impossible, however, for one person to check that out in a city.

Movie ending

The end of the film is the expected one.

The only action as thrilling as possible at the end is the moment when Dude is traded on Joe Burdette, with Dude managing to fix his mistake. Nathan Burdette fails to release his brother, but you can not say that he tried properly. The actions in the film are mostly mediocre. The ending is a foolish one, the situation being stabilized by Stumpy.

The facts in the film are ordinary as intent. Can't be said that the spectator would have something to learn. But the characters are portrayed properly even through mediocrity of the action.
